Long Island's Only Local Storytelling Slam Brings (Mostly) True Holiday-themed Stories to Port Jefferson on December 14

4 Long Island personalities share a story about an actual experience. One story will be completely true, the others littered with lies. The whole truth comes out in the end with the help of the audience. (un)believeably fun. Host: Jude Treder-Wolff

Long Island’s only local storytelling slam, titled (mostly) TRUE THINGS is a monthly event featuring Long Island storytellers from all walks of life telling 8-minutes true stories without notes, but with a bit of a twist from most storytelling slams. The next performance is Sunday December 14 at 4 pm at The Performing Arts Studio of New York, 224 E. Main St in Port Jefferson, NY. Tickets are $10. For reservations call 631-366-4265 or buy online at Brown Paper Tickets  Featured storytellers include psychic medium Lyn Cavataio and Long Island rhythm & blues singer Stephanie Gholson and 2 more to be announced, each sharing an 8-minute true story. One of those stories will be absolutely true. The other 3 are peppered with little white lies, distortions or cleverly crafted fabrications. After the stories the audience gets into the act, questioning the storytellers, then voting for the nothing-but-the-truth teller. Winners get a prize. The audience is as entertaining as the storytellers and the truth about each story comes out in the end. Everyone experiences the humor, heart and human connection that makes live storytelling of true – or mostly true – personal accounts a compelling and popular form of entertainment.
